In Senegal it's customary to shake everyone's hand when you first enter someone's home, even the children. Although some people won't shake hands with people of the opposite gender for religious reasons this, at least in my experience, was uncommon. If you're male and there's unfamiliar women in the room give them the opportunity to extend their hand first to avoid any awkward rejections.
